Little Leapers Announces their first Nutcracker Auditions

August 30, 2012

It’s almost that time of year, when Sugarplums starting dancing in folks' heads. This year, Little Leapers, the YMCA at Virginia Tech and the VT Ballet Project  are preparing for their first holiday production of "The Nutcracker" on Dec. 15th and 16th at the Lyric in Blacksburg. By design, the Nutcracker will be a community project. Artistic Director, Heather Leeper has a partnered up with many local dance/theatre groups as well as small businesses to bring this classic holiday story to life, Blacksburg Style.

The merging of these local groups is sure to make this production a sell out event. The Little Leaper’s involvement in the Nutcracker is an obvious choice, as their curriculum is based around not only dance education, but literature and theatrics. In addition, the production will include the gorgeously trained dancers from the VT Ballet project and sets built from the YMCA store. Along with costumes and props supplied by other local businesses. Proceeds from this event will helps support the YMCA and VT Ballet Project, sponsors are invited to donate to this production.

As a community project production, auditions will be open to the public at the Blacksburg YMCA on North Main st.
